Teacher petrified' after being attacked by student
(7 Comments)Six days after she was sucker punched and beaten in her own Baltimore classroom, high school art teacher Jolita Berry still finds it almost impossible to watch the MySpace video of the attack. And she can't make herself go back to work.
"I am petrified to go back to that particular building," Berry told TODAY's Matt Lauer on Thursday in New York. "I miss the good students that I have. I love them dearly, but I can't do it."
The attack happened last Friday morning in Berry's classroom in Reginald F. Lewis High School in Baltimore. One of the girls in the class approached the 30-year-old teacher and got nose-to-nose with her and threatened her.

Stop being a wimp, teacher and realize just how fucking lucky you are to have the option of not going back. If you were a student, that would be truancy.
Yeah. My school doesn't actually give detentions, I was only giving them as an example of punishment.
And it sucks that when somebody gets bullied, they get punished by the administration too. I mean, if anyone suggested punishing rape victims, or people who've been mugged, we'd call him insane. Yet it's considered acceptable to punish victims of bullying.
Boo hoo I got beaten up by a mindless child oh sob(Sarcasm).
Not only that, but most likely YOU would get a detention too, for being involved in the fight even if you were juts defending yourself.
Bullying is worse than this, because (as it is in the definition of bullying) it is repeated.
If I reported a bullying incident, not only would I get beaten up by the bully once more (something that definitely won't happen to the teacher), but I would also not get a week of school (as the teacher did). It is also unlikely that the bully would get suspended, she'd get a detention at most. And it definitely wouldn't be on national news.
Actually, I don't agree. Students don't really get physically attacked by teachers. Then again, student fights never get reported, so in that way you're right. And yeah, it has a strong anti-youth bias.
Waah wah boo hoo, yeah it's so traumatic. This shit happens to STUDENTS every day, but you don't see any outrage in the news about that. But touch one hair on an adult's holy head, and suddenly it's a national scandal. Pardon me while I vomit.
