Youth rights group opposes restricting drinking
A national youth rights group is opposing a Wisconsin proposal that would stop children from drinking in bars.
Current law allows for children of any age to drink in a Wisconsin bar if they are with their parents, the adult gives consent and the bartender is willing to serve them. A bill in the Legislature would prevent anyone under age 18 from drinking in a bar.
National Youth Rights Association director Alex Koroknay-Palicz says the law should remain the same. He says whether children drink in bars is a family matter.
He says the law allows minors to drink in a supervised manner that is safer than if they try to do it without their parents finding out.
The bill has broad support including the state Medical Association and the Tavern League.

This is stupid
Children should not be drinking alcohol regardless of whether thier parents allow them or not.
The brain is still growing and so drinking while you're as young as 20 can still have negative effects. The law isn't there to prevent a little teenager's fun. It's actually trying to keep you healthy.
If children are allowed to drink with their parents then it means spoiling children right from their childhood. barowners should not support this but they should also provide proper trainings to their bartenders about who to serve alcohol and who not to and how much to serve to an adult person not children.
i'm with the other commenters, this is in no way an attack on kids, it is to keep them from damaging the growing process (i am a teenager, no an adult)
I'm definitely disagreeing with you guys. I think the bill should not pass because more than likely kids will do it only because it's illegal and because of that their parents can't supervise it so it really doesn't keep us healthy. Limiting how many a kid can consume would be ok but this is too far. It also is wasting people's time, they should be spending more time and money on things of actual importance like stopping crime, discrimination and stop abuse.
