Say you go into a shop. You buy something. It could be anything. You go up to the cashier, who appears to be too preocupied with something to give you much attention. She gives you your change and sends you on your way.
Leaving the shop, counting your money, you notice the cashier has given you more change than you get. £10 more, to be precise. What do you do? Do walk off with your money? Do you give it back? Sure, a big shop like Tesco's can probably lose £10 anyday, what with them opening shops absolutely bloody everywhere. However, you've techincally commited theft.
But what if the shop was indpendant? What if the little old lady's £10 meant food for the rest of the week? What if that money meant more?
What woud you do? Do you give the money back? Or do you walk off with it?

This actually happened to me once recently; I can't remember where, though. I had gotten $10 USD in change by mistake, but I never noticed.
Usually I don't notice with big shops, but if it's from a small shop or independent place, I'll give the money back.

Keep it. If she's stupid enough to give it to me she doesn't deserve it. Way I see it we'll both benefit. I'll get money and she'll learn to be more careful with her money. It's a win-win!

I would take it if i was a big store but if it was anything small like a gas station I would give it back. I have stolen from wal-mart before so yeah.. friends say that no body ever bothers chasing you. you don't get a bonus for catching them, my cousin is an ex-employe and says she saw people steal all the time and dosen't do anything about it.

If it is a big store such as wal-mart or best buy, I wouldn't care, but if it was a famliy owned business, i'd give it back.

If it was ten dollars, I'd give it back if it was a small, independent shop. If it was ten pounds, I'd keep it and only give it back when Ireland gets its true bloody freedom!

So you would be happy to deprive little old lady in the little old shop of food for the week, would you?

I deprive her of nothing. It is her own stupidity that makes her lose the 10 dollars. I always make sure my shit is secure, and it never gets stolen. And I don't think it's realistic to believe 10 dollars is going to deprive her of food for a week.

If it's an independent shop I always give it back. Something like ASDA? too much hassle.

If she's old, it might not be stupidity. She might have had a moment of senility that really isn't her fault. Or maybe she's getting Alzheimers. Even I think that that would be douchebaggy.

I'd probably give it back to either place. That 10 pounds is 10 pounds less for a prole that works for a big company, same story with independent shops.
But if I that ten pounds was supposed to go towards a CEO's paycheck, I'd keep it.
