Isnt Art class suppost to be about using your imagination and creativity? Well it's not! In Art class you just gotta sit down shut up and draw/paint whatever you teacher tells you to. Art is ment to be about being creative and using your imagination but as usual Schools take that creativity away from us.

I have a story about art class. In grade seven (or eight) I had like a 20% half way through the semester. Then I handed in the assignments I forgot to hand in and my mark went up to 75%.

Actually.... your art teachers must suck. All the ones I've had (And I've had quite a few) All completely support creativity. You just have to follow a theme (sculpture, relief, altered books, ect.) Then the content is all yours (As long as its appropriate, no sexually suggestive bullshit, and no extreme violence) (Violence with a cause is acceptable, but none that would make teh normal peoplz gag)

Same. I had one who was really corny, annoying, and probably would've done better with five-year-olds than fifth graders but as much as I disliked her I couldn't give her the criticism. I'm more a stickler with poetry than with art. Visual creativity is pretty able to adapt to any medium. But lyrical creativity...I suppose people can do it but it's a skill.
Sorry your art teachers suck.

my eigth grade art teacher was insane...she wrote a book on the bauhaus and it was the most boring piece of crap i've ever heard, but she still made us sit and listen to it as she read it in the monotone voice for day after day. and she had all these girly mags in the back that she'd give us for collages but she'd freak if someone cut out some half-naked pic. there are a lot of other great stories from that class but i'm too lazy/tired/apathetic to tell them now.

There's the added factor of "Playa Hata" teachers (as I like to call them, or just "Hater Teachers or HT" for short. My art teacher always gives me a C, no matter how good my drawing are. Even if it's the best in the class, she gives me a damn C. But, she gives someone else an A, even if they rush and it gets sloppy. Damn haters....

Actually art isn't based on how WELL you draw, its based on how you followed directions. Like if you didn't have a lo of nagative space, a good composition. ect. ect.
