How to make money without being employed

Start a website about something you're passionate about and would enjoy doing even if you weren't getting paid... and then put ads on it so that you do get paid. This will not make much money at first but later on you may make enough to live on, and possibly even a lot more than that.

Do you write? Draw? Publish it. Even if it's just in a magazine, that's still some money. Good with computers? Spread the word, and charge for support. Webpage designer? Charge. If you have a skill, put it to use to make money. - Darthmat
