US: Law would make bars, stores buy ID scanners
A new law aimed at cracking down on underage drinking and tobacco purchases will rely on advanced id scanners to verify the buyer's age.
Senators Jeffrey Klein and Martin Conner unveiled the proposed new law today.
It would require bars, night clubs, and convenience stores to use a scanner system that can detect if driver's licenses and non-driver license cards are valid.
