High school locked down after 'miscommunication'
School locked down after man with gun spotted. Man with gun turned out to be World War II veteran with a plugged rifle coming to speak at a social studies class.

Rome High School was locked down for a few minutes this morning because of a miscommunication between the middle and high school, according to Rome City Schools Superintendent Gayland Cooper.
The high school locked down temporarily after someone saw what turned out to be a World War II veteran in the parking lot with a plugged rifle in his hands. The vet was heading inside Rome Middle School to talk to a social studies class about his experiences during the war.
"It was unfortunate that it happened, but we did exactly what we were supposed to do," Cooper said.
After contacting the middle school, high school officials lifted the lockdown and continued on their regular schedule.
"It was really nothing, but it was good practice," Cooper said.

Like what Rebelnerd said, and because when a serial killer comes to your school next, those bastards think "oh here comes another WWII vet except this time he looks about 60 years younger and he's carrying a bloody knife". Yeah. Reeeeeeeaaaally smart. Cause a guy in a wheelchair who is 85 years old and who practically died so you wouldn't be hitler saluting and talking japanese now is totally a killer. Yeah. retards.
a 90 year old man in an old military outfit with a PLUGED rifle using his walker (probobly) to get to the school is definatly a big threat...my @$$!!
