Susan and Edmund Benson boldly broke ground in 1986 when they made the decision to establish ARISE, a not-for-profit foundation, in response to escalating problems of high-risk children and young adults whose future seemed unpromising at best. These youths, besieged by sexual promiscuity, teen pregnancy, overuse of drugs and alcohol, domestic abuse, and violence, live in a world where fists and weapons are used to solve problems and failure to thrive in school is rampant.
