School Considers Charging For Detention

Afterschool Detention Slip Could Get More Costly

NUTLEY, N.J. - A school in New Jersey is considering charging kids who get sent to detention.

The Nutley School District in Essex County claims it spends about $10,000 a year on overtime and maintenance to run afterschool detention.

Officials said kids who are there all the time should help with the costs.

If approved, it would be the first time any New Jersey school has ever charged for detention.
