US: 128 Students Suspended for dress code violations
Classrooms were a little less crowded at Morton High School on the first day of classes: 128 students were sent home for wearing the wrong clothes.
Fed up with inappropriate outfits, the principal suspended the students for one day Wednesday, minutes after doors opened at the school. Those suspended represent more than 10 percent of the 1,200 total students.
The offending attire - including baggy pants, low-cut shirts, tank tops and graphic T-shirts - are banned from classrooms. Students were also cited for cell phone use.
"This was the worst year I've seen in a long time," said Principal Theresa Mayerik. "It's gotten out of control, and we needed to send a message that we're not messing around."
The Hammond school usually has 20 dress code violations a day.
Mayerik said the infraction would be removed from students' records in 12 weeks if they had no other in-school violations.
School board members said they support Mayerik and the mass suspensions. "I'd be supportive if half the school was sent home, because 99 percent will get the message our schools are for education," board president Rebecca Ward said.

Wouldn't it be so great that if the next day all 128 students were at the doors of the school shouting, "Fuck You Facists!" and waving signs around?

Those fucking fascist bastards!!!
Dress code violations? I am a Goth and therefore I am quite aware of the consequences for presenting yourself in a manner that is deemed inappropriate by those in 'authority.'
What is unfortunate is that the majority of Goths I am familiar with believe that Goth should receive hate crime legislation, myself included.
It is a valid culture in the opinions of many Goths, and to research this manner of thinking...well, I must say it does not take long to discover at the very least SOME adequate results.
Nonetheless we are perceived as adolescents in a phase, while the Goths within their 30's and beyond are completely disregarded.
People believe what it is they so desire, and this is detrimental to the well-being of Goths or any minority for that matter. Do they wish to hinder us from being granted influence within society?
Goths should express their concerns pertaining to this on a more frequent basis, yet this does not occur. Or perhaps it does yet the Dominant Culture attempts to subdue our protests. Who can be certain? All I know is that Goths should refrain from being passive. It will have no effect on such an overwhelmingly dominant force known as 'society.'
Young Goths should confront their Principals every day with the forbidden attire and be courageous enough to address that they will no longer tolerate these blatant acts of discrimination.
Adult Goths should voice their complaints with their employment offices INCESSANTLY.
While it is quite a disappointment that people must actually engage in active protest to be considered important enough, this is how it must be. I despise the 'establishment' to such an unbearable extent.
if schools are about education...then how is wearing "wrong" (RIGHT!!) clothes bad for our education? NAME 1 GOOD REASON!! (im serious try to think of one) YOU CANT CAN YOU!!?? EXACTLY!! NOW STOP WITH THE DRESS CODE THING!!!
