Nazi mum banned from taking son, 6, to rallies
THE Family Court has banned a pro-Nazi mother from taking her six-year-old child to political rallies or encouraging the child to share her ultra right-wing views.
In a case known as Hoover and Hoover, Deputy Chief Justice John Faulks ordered the woman be banned from viewing Nazi websites when the child is in her care and that she be restrained from inciting racial hatred.
In another Family Court case heard in Brisbane late last year, a father who was involved in the campaign for an independent West Papua was requested not to take the couple's twin five-year-olds to political rallies.
In a third Family Court case, a judge ruled in 2007 a mother's previous involvement with the skinhead culture was not evidence that the child was at risk.

I have mixed feelings about this. The rallies ban is fine, those things can get nasty. However, "encouraging the child to share her ultra right-wing views" is tricky. With this precedent, the state could easily prevent parents from passing any views on to their child, both religious and political. I want to be able to talk to my child about controversial ideologies without fear.
I'm not going to begin with how stupid this is.
There's a difference between talking about something, and trying to convince people about something. If she's abusing her power as the kid's mother and trying to make him think like her, then it's bad... but yeah, either way, none of the government's business really. If he's smart, he'll eventually figure out how to think for himself. Rather than discourage people from trying to make their kids like them, it'd be better to encourage everyone (especially kids) to question things they are told. Then it won't be such a problem anyway.
That's a fair point, but how is this different from parents pushing their kids into a certain religion? That is actually explicitly protected under US law.
That's not to say it's right-but I wouldn't make it criminal in itself.
This is interesting because it posts a very difficult issue. I'm sure lots of people on SS would agree that government interference is wrong; however, this also would conflict with most people's political and moral ideologies. I say the government should have no say in where she takes her child. Although I extremely disagree with this woman's political philosophies, I have to support them. If I didn't, there would be no difference if I supported a mother that took her children to church, or to liberal protests.
hhhmmm,I think that that government officials shouldn't be telling this woman where and were not she may take her child, or telling her what and what not to teach the child. I do NOT agree with this woman's beliefs, but i do not support the official and putting restraints on raising her child. It isn't fair. Its not like she is taking this child to bars at night and leaving with random men, I think this was blown a little much out of proportion.
