Why do I hate school?
It's okay to hate school: There is nothing wrong with you.

This is a support site for students who can't stand being forced to go to school. We are not telling you to drop out, rebel or do anything in particular. What you do is your decision and yours alone, we can just provide support and information for whatever choice you may make. What works for one person won't necessarily work for everyone. The point is: the choice is yours to make. And if, for whatever reason, other people refuse to let you make that choice, you will always find someone here willing to listen to you.
14 Good Reasons why School Sucks & Things I Hate About School:
- School sucks because if you don't like it, most people automatically think there's something serious wrong with you.
- School ruins learning. In school, learning is all about memorizing things, answering questions, and writing loads of crap on topics you don't care about.
- Because you're forced to go there, and if you want to try some other alternative, you need to get parental permission first. School is essentially pointless forced labour without pay.
- It sucks because people expect you to treat school as the most important thing in your life. Nevermind what you'd rather be doing.
- School sucks because once you're done, you'll probably forget 90% of what you "learned" there and burn all your books anyway. All you'll be left with is a diploma stating that you survived 12 years of hell. And very few people (besides your parents) will even want to look at it.
- Because talking to your friends is a crime at school.
- It sucks because even if you're bored out of your mind, you'll still get all the blame for not participating in class.
- School suppresses independent thought - if you disagree with the teacher, you're in trouble. If you dare to think of a new way to do something, it's automatically wrong.
- School sucks because if you do what they say and do all your work, you don't get time off - they'll just expect even more from you in future. And someone who cheats on their work and tests can just as easily do better than you.
- School sucks because life is short, and you'll never get that time back.
- School makes everyone around you panic over the smallest little things that none of them (or anyone else) will care about a few years down the line.
- Even when you go home, school invades your life by giving you homework as well.
- It sucks because even though school has all these problems, if you mention any of them, you'll be the one they blame, no matter how right you may actually be.
- School sucks because every now and then it does something useful for someone, and then everyone goes all "Look! That's proof that school is good for you!"... It's like getting free ice cream in hell - it just doesn't quite make up for all the other stuff.

My reasons:
1. Half the day is wasted every 5 days a week and 7 to 8 hours on HELL (school), and we only have half the day left (till 3:30 to however 12 or 11, or 10 o'clock at night, depends when u sleep) and the time at home passes so quick, compared to school!
2. Two day weekends are so damn short (and no holidays in march!), they are so short, and 5 days of shitass school takes like forever..but the weekends pass like one second! No joke! The holidays are usually 3 days ugh :( and the long holidays are more rare, u have to wait forever for the long holidays to come, like for example: Thanksgiving break, christmas (winter) break, spring break, and summer break espicially!
4. School is like invaded with your whole life, even at home, u know why? becz they give u work work work! Like current events, book reports, homework, stupid projects, and studying 24/7 becz u have like a million damn quizzez and tests every damn time! And well some ppl dont study, but if u care about ur grades, then ugh :(
5. School has the most annoyingest and snobby, bitches, asshole people in it! Like i hate all the annoying really snobby populars..i mean i guess im a little popular. but not the most. like the annoying ones. They are so jerky and mean. and treat u like shit if ur not fitting in with them, fuck them!
6. i live in virginia, and the people are more snobby and BITCHY here than any other damn state, and the schools are so hard and annoying! they have also a ton of racists too...never move espicially to VA! the schools are way more hell
7. sorry for complaing...but i just hate school so much! and i hate this state. but what can i do? pretty much nothing

Why this shit happened? Because of the school! Thanks to you, school, you created a bunch of degenerates who can't solve conflicts in real life, and spend more time in their cotton-candy dreams and not much work being done. Essential things like life skills and hands-on trades are degrading. Quality and quantity of food in restaurants dropped, mechanics' quality dropped and you still have to pay lotta money for repair, even quality of civilian dropped because they care more about themselves and become less concern about other people's needs.
Why this all happened? Because this is what happened when schools wants to compete with other schools, and make them learn things that have nothing to do with real life. Making it worse, students' world becomes smaller when schoolworks are only things that matters to them. In the end, everybody is all like: "It's all about me! ME, ME, ME!" You selfish morons.

I feel that the years k-6 are okay to learn the basics for everything, BUT NOT FOR 12 DAMN YEARS! I think the years after it should be more like a college set up- taking the classes you are actually INTERESTED in (what a shocker) and not learning things you don't give a shit about AND if you change your mind your life isn't over and your not wasting a whole shitload of money! I'm not going to say that I hate school. I am fortunate enough to go to a school that I like, for the most part. I think that I have learned valuable life lessons by going to school. Even though we'll probably forget a majority of all the education we're supposed to learn, it doesn't mean that it's not beneficial. For example, I've forgotten a majority of my geometry. BUT, it point of taking that class (or math in general) isn't to get me to memorize tons of math- it's to get me to think logically. School is to get us to use our brains on multiple dimensions.

Sorry if I am not clear of that part, I'll give 2 scenarios just to let you know better:
1. A student got bullied by other student. The bullied student got punched in the stomach, so he decide to fight back, but teacher came and saw it's you hitting the bully not the actual bully hitting you. You try to tell teacher you are the one getting bullied, but the bully suddenly cried for no reason and say you hit him. So teacher punish you instead of him. You just got detention for something you never did.
2. Teacher made a shy student to be class representative, shy student doesn't want the job, but the teacher still made the student to do it. Then the shy student have to keep up with everybody's expectations as class representative. That shy student is doing well in the beginning, but one day she accidently screwed up teacher's file while she was being asked to reorganize files in the teacher's computer. That teacher got pissed off, and gave her detention. Shortly after, she cried and ran to office and told the counselor what had happened. The counselor reported to principal, and the principal called that shy student off from being class representative. The problem is, nothing happened to that teacher, and that shy student had been blamed for nothing.
You can choose not to believe it if you think this is bullcrap. These are some scenarios where students are helpless when done something they never meant to do it. They faced the conflict, but can't do anything since they're not the one making the decision, and the school staffs take advantage of it and throw all the responsibilities to students and not care about them.

I severely dislike school, and I dislike it being forced onto us. Also, I'm sick of all the people who curse you out for hating school. To whoever reads this and likes school, good for you. That's your personal opinion. Don't rant at others because they have a different viewpoint. I dislike school because of all the repeats. I learned biology in 5th grade and 7th grade, and I'm going to learn it again in 9th grade. Much of the stuff is similar, but they just add some more detail. Because the information is similar, much is learned in a short time, so it is extended with useless information that is never mentioned again. If the information was more condensed, then more time could be used for PE, or an art-based class. That would then enable our current youth to be healthier and more creative. It would also be beneficial to shorten school hours, given the fact that school uses money. A shortened school day would save costs in energy bills, food bills, water bills, and cleaning bills.
I don't really care if anyone actually reads this, its just my 2 cents.

Plus, the teachers has more things to learn in real life than in school. They just go on strikes and ask for more money when they feel their budget is low. For crying out loud, if you can't manage $30k year salary, then there is no way you can manage year salary higher than $30k. Really, many teachers in North America sucked bad with money, and they get income deficit often for no reason.
When students feel like they go to school for nothing, they feel like crap. When teachers can't get hold of the mass students and feeling pressure all over their life and work, they complain and make people beside them miserable. When government feel students and teachers are not progressing as they expected, they make students and teachers feel even more crap and miserable.
Governments all over the world tries to compare whose education system is better, so they have to keep pressuring teachers and students to be better than others just to prove which countries are better. Some students and teachers living in socially-strict countries (like Japan) can't stand the shame and commit suicide, just because they feel their life is nothing but work and expectations.
So in the end, I really have to say: School sucks, and will ever be.

I dislike school a helluva lot (*usually* learn more outside of it), but a lot of the comments here are coming from immature people who feel self-entitled to everything in life, or do not grasp the important things school DOES teach. In fact, a lot of their complaints involve things they have control over, or are complaints unique to themselves and NOT to school-as-a-whole.
But, there are those reasonable comments that understand that modern [public] schools are flawed in many important ways. School's not all bad, but these flaws need to be addressed. Unfortunately, making such a drastic and huge change to the school system is expensive, risky, and will take too long a time to see how effective the change is.

Yes, learning in school does help you with your compound and complex ways of thinking in many dimensions, but it cannot teach you how to deal with conflicts in real life (this is a very serious problem in real life).
Yes, there are many things we can control over, but how well can you control? If your ability to control over something like financial situation or dealing with your employee is fundamentally flawed, you will have so much trouble when you are taking control of it, especially when you have to take care of it.

Other reason that I hate is teachers can make students take out their money, if they ever faced income deficit, or just want more beer money.
Few things that teacher can take advantage of students for money (mostly in high school and college):
- Teacher can earn like over $200 bonus from field trip for each class they take, only if they know how to count well.
- Teacher can remodel textbooks or study guides that contains important points toward the big test for good money. Selling answers for money could happen, but I am not gonna go deep to details since this is against the rule.
- Teachers can also tutor for money. All teacher have to do is to repeat the same stuffs they talk about in school for 2 hours and free money comes in.
All these methods are how teachers dig money outta students. Students can't say no to that because it will make them look dumb if they refuse to do so. Teachers may say they need to eat (more like want to eat more than need to eat) or so as excuse. Yes, I admit these requires additional efforts, but earning money is not the main responsibility as a teacher. Teachers these days forgot about that, and aimed for money instead of educational responsibility.
I hate the school, cause it's purpose is degrading. And for all teachers who love money, I advise you not to take petty advantage on students. Go out there, get a life, and take advantage on someone who are more confident that you are.

I have a big ass problem when my math teacher loads us ass high with homework. How the hell are we supposed to finish that? Today, she gave us a problem that, for a sixth grader, is next to impossible. I Don't give a crap if the teacher yells at me, or forces me to stay at a homework club for not finishing it, I am not giving in to that kind of shit without a fight. I figure that if you think smart, and fight hard with your protesting, that it could be less unbearable. But sadly, its too late for the kids in my generation. We are denied free speech, we are subject to censorship, unable to be social with peers. School has 1. ruined my connection to my island home, 2, forced me to give up relaxed learning, and 3, destroyed what precious time I have with friends at school. They try to make it better by creating 5 minute "play time." Its not really play-time, as its of course subject to obscene censorship. Honestly, schools need to rethink their entire approach to learning in general. So far, the only thing I have learned in 6th grade is that my teacher is a psychotic primate.

I'm in Year 7 and I live Australia. In Australia, Year 7 is the start of high school. Plus, we have NAPLAN tommorrow and it's a test on English and Maths (my least favourite subject is Maths) and it goes on for 3 days!!
It's bad because now my English teacher has started giving out lots and lots of useless homework to do.
Some of these things are true, but the things we learn (okay, if you can call it that) and the credits are unfortunately the only way to get a job, make actual money. If credits are the only way that will get you into college and if college is the only way to get a real job, then I would rather sit through school and participate, get through the class, and get a future job.

Yeah I totally agree. School is a fucking waste of my time. School moves so fucking slowly, anything I have ever learned I have learned on my own. I hate the shitty administration that runs my school. School doesn't help me at all. Spanish class is what I hate the most. I hate having to learn Spanish. I got a D in that piece of shit class because I didn't understand how to do Spanish, and when I asked her for help she told me I should have been paying attention. Except that was really hard to do since everyone in my Spanish class are a bunch of fucking losers who couldn't shut the fuck up. And on top of that, my bitch of a Spanish teacher placed me in the back of the classroom. I hate language so much. But I love Physics, Math and pretty much any Science. The stupid school system makes me study all those other subjects and they deny me every time I try to take higher Science and Math classes. I end up doing Math and Science in my free time, and I never complete my Spanish homework. I HATE SCHOOL. Public education is the biggest load of bullshit since a manure pile. I just don't understand why we can't just go to school until 6th grade like other countries. Then chose a career or job. This stuff we are learning in high school now...they didn't have to learn say 50 years ago. If i just so happen to become a scientist then i shall take chemistry and biology and all those other classes when necessary. But if i want to become a chef i don't really need to know permutations and trig to figure out how to cook and measure. Look at all the successful chefs out there that did drop out of high school. They can easily speak proper english and add. That's what we learn in middle school. If we already know basic math operations we don't need that other stuff. we should be able choose to take courses that help us toward our goals, especially when later on in life we are going to forget that other stuff we learned that we never will use again anyways!!!

Fucking bullies and the school system.
For 4months constantly i was been harassed from this prick for no reason other than he is a degenerate cunt.
Normally i would had smash this guy head with my plastic desk but i heard that he was infamous for being in a little gang and ignoring the bully is the best option ( which is fucking bullshit).
Each day i would have this lowly son of a bitch threw paper balls behind my head and mock me when i glared at him.
One day i decided i had enough and got up and box his scrawny cheek.He then shoved me to the ground but the teacher separate us before it could get any worst which i of course would not have care as long i as could have another few more chances to send a few fists towards him , even if i was in a losing situation.
Here is the greatest joke , i was punished for starting a fight and as for the twat that been rustling my jimmmies since the start of school? He was free to go.
The discipline master told me i should apologise to this lowlife and would relieve me of my punishment. I refuse and had him giving 2 swings of a wooden cane to my ass cheeks the next morning.
But at least that nasty little shit stop bothering with me afterwards.
So my advice is if you are still schooling , beat the ever loving shit out of anyone that belittle you daily for no fucking reason what so ever but just because they think you are weak and wants to take the pleasure out of seeing you squirm. You would never get that chance again when you are in working society . you would get your ass sued and thrown into jail.
School sucks, and that's that. It doesn't prepare you for anything what-so-ever and you're better off without it anyway, because you learn a load of things that just don't matter much, and your practical experience will be simply surpassed with all the shit you learn at school and never use again... Maybe 0.001% of the time when a catastrophe or something similar happens. What I'm saying is: School has a way too old mold, it simply doesn't work for modern times, its values are all surpassed and it simply doesn't exert creativity or anything new to learn. I wish that school was like writing a commentary like this: I actually feel good doing it, rather than wasting my life on such pointless crap that is school.

I hate the fact that i could be out there with my dad, earning money and saving instead of being stuck in school, learning about thing that really, REALLY wont help me. If you left school at an early age of around 13 and left to work, by the time you had reached the average age of leaving school (17-18) you would have already earned a MINIMUM $65,520 (Minus tax, if charged any)! Yes people, that's on MINIMUM wage! Not only would you have had a $65,520 head start on life, you would have also had a whole SIX years of experience in the job you had chosen, thus leaving you an experienced employee before you've left the age of 18! WE ARE GETTING SHIT ON. I'm only 15 and I realize this, why can't more people? Im not saying school should be stopped, i'm just saying it shouldn't be as limited. I mean this by saying that we go through 13 years of school to learn things we will probably never use. Its not like the whole school is going to become a Musician/ architect/ mathamitician/ scientist/cook right. We will probably use about half of our english and a quater of our maths.
One day in school, after one of my classes, someone's assignment dropped into my stuff and when I was getting my stuff in my locker, I noticed it. I went back to the class and turned it in. After I got all my stuff and got to my class (which by the way is right next to my locker) they said I was late and I had to stay after school... I honestly think I learn more about the world from MAD magazine then school.
