Why do I hate school?
It's okay to hate school: There is nothing wrong with you.

This is a support site for students who can't stand being forced to go to school. We are not telling you to drop out, rebel or do anything in particular. What you do is your decision and yours alone, we can just provide support and information for whatever choice you may make. What works for one person won't necessarily work for everyone. The point is: the choice is yours to make. And if, for whatever reason, other people refuse to let you make that choice, you will always find someone here willing to listen to you.
14 Good Reasons why School Sucks & Things I Hate About School:
- School sucks because if you don't like it, most people automatically think there's something serious wrong with you.
- School ruins learning. In school, learning is all about memorizing things, answering questions, and writing loads of crap on topics you don't care about.
- Because you're forced to go there, and if you want to try some other alternative, you need to get parental permission first. School is essentially pointless forced labour without pay.
- It sucks because people expect you to treat school as the most important thing in your life. Nevermind what you'd rather be doing.
- School sucks because once you're done, you'll probably forget 90% of what you "learned" there and burn all your books anyway. All you'll be left with is a diploma stating that you survived 12 years of hell. And very few people (besides your parents) will even want to look at it.
- Because talking to your friends is a crime at school.
- It sucks because even if you're bored out of your mind, you'll still get all the blame for not participating in class.
- School suppresses independent thought - if you disagree with the teacher, you're in trouble. If you dare to think of a new way to do something, it's automatically wrong.
- School sucks because if you do what they say and do all your work, you don't get time off - they'll just expect even more from you in future. And someone who cheats on their work and tests can just as easily do better than you.
- School sucks because life is short, and you'll never get that time back.
- School makes everyone around you panic over the smallest little things that none of them (or anyone else) will care about a few years down the line.
- Even when you go home, school invades your life by giving you homework as well.
- It sucks because even though school has all these problems, if you mention any of them, you'll be the one they blame, no matter how right you may actually be.
- School sucks because every now and then it does something useful for someone, and then everyone goes all "Look! That's proof that school is good for you!"... It's like getting free ice cream in hell - it just doesn't quite make up for all the other stuff.

One of the reasons that I hate school is because the teachers are let's say mentally disabled. I don't want my rant to be a mess of swears...
Onto my reason. Remember that swine flu outbreak back 1 or 2 years ago? I got swine flu like you wouldn't believe and missed a week of school due to my inability to do anything other than sit around or sleep...then I got it again can you believe it.another week gone then when I come back to school after that second time
I missed a big test and my teacher put off giving me the test until the next term where it didn't count towards that terms grade so I got a "D" can you believe it. I never got anything below a B until that class. So that was a advanced class I was doing high school math in 6th grade so come next year I have to take the entire frikking class all over again because of that one D. I got set back because of that. I would be done with all my math requirements in high school if it wasn't for that dumb bimbo. My school system sucks I have great grades,never gotten suspended, hell... Never even had a detention in 4 years but one little mistake; one little fuck up that wasn't even my fault! Entire year all over again for math. U suppose that is what supposed to be fair in school. I have dealt with so much bullshit in school that I have been suicidal for the past 6 years and I'm 14 I have thought about killing myself since I was 8. Though I would never do it. That would be a permeant solution to a temporary problem and me and my 135 IQ realizes that it is not right.
All in All, school is nothing, but teachers who don't have the power they want over their lives so they rule over the easily moldable children that the government just hands over to them. That has been my rant and it felt good to get that out.

I HATE SCHOOL! I get so much stress and worried a lot. All you do is sit there for hours and hours then go home and do more work. After school you forget everything you learn eventually... I hate the teachers a lot too! I hardly get along with them. And one thing I don't get is why we have to learn about history? School wastes paper, they use the paper to make homework, books , and dumb projects. One thing i don't get about school is HOW HORRIBLE THE FOOD IS! School is a waste of time and life. All i needed to learn is spelling. AND I ALREADY DID. I used to think school was fun but then got pissed off with those mean teachers. They give us loads of work. And why do we do projects? I mean i don't get what projects have to do with anything! When i get home from school I want to relax but i always have to do homework! I sleep late a lot because how long homework is... I don't get a good night sleep. I hardly get to go on my Xbox because of so much work left! I don't have bullies but I just hate it when people blame everything on me! And the teachers don't give a shit about you. All they want is money probably.
I hate school so much that there are times I wish I could just die than go to school. I mean, come on. The things they "teach" us are pure nonsense.
I have friends, my grades are okay yet there's something that really makes me sick to my stomach thinking about school. Oh god, I hate it. I don't want to be a drop out but come on, it sucks there. Everyone criticizes you and if you do something out of line, they'll be talking about you and whatnot.
My dad knows how much I hate it yet my mother cannot understand. My dad says he understand what I'm feeling but he doesn't want me to stop going to hell because he's done that when he was in high school. I asked him if it'd be okay if I were home-schooled and he said yes but my mother would not allow me.

I think that school is a good place to learn IF, the teachers made it that way instead of piling us up with homework. I think school should be about 5 hours 3 days a week. That way, you learn what you need to and go home. I hate waking up early and going to be early and I hate my team, I have no friends on this team. My parents think i hate to read but i read on a college level im in the 9th grade going to the 10th grade so thats pretty good to be reading that high. My mom says "Well get a good grade and show her" when its physcially impossible because she "loses my papers" and "mis-grades them" i've spoken to the principal guidance councels and everything nothing helps. so SCREW MATH AND SCREW SCHOOL.

School sucks because you have to wake up early in the morning and suffer, cause' as soon as you get through doing what this they ask you to do more after they said thats all..when you should.be getting free time. Then the nasty ass food!! And if you get a highschool diploma there's a possibility that you won't even get a great job. People should bomb school's cause, your fucking forced to learn and your not even going to use it.
School ruins my childhood often. I have to go to school for 7 hours, and when I come home, at least an hour or two on homework. That's 8-9 hours of my life lost to nothing. It's Fall/Winter, so it gets dark at fucking 5 pm! Now I can't leave the house because my mom doesn't like me going outside when it gets dark. So I get stuck in my house with nothing to do, because I had to waste time on school. I am going to be honest, I am not one of those kids that just knows it all, and can do it in about 20 or 30 minutes. I have to really take my time if its a subject I'm no good with. Like math or science. People say those two are easy, but that's them. This is me, and it's hard.
I hate the teachers, too, because it's true. If you do something because of another kid, like respond to them in either a friendly or unfriendly manner, you get in trouble because the teacher catches you instead. Or the person next to you was talking, and your blamed, and the teacher wont believe you when you say it was that other kid.
To be honest, I would not mind school in the least bit if they allowed us to pick what we wanted to pick, if it was in our biggest interest. Maybe a small math class off to the side, because as much as I hate it, we actually need it. But anyway, I'm an Artistic person. I love Drama, Art class, History, Band. Those are what I like, and they all are leading me somewhere. I could have chances of being an actor, an artist, a historian or a musician. Those are great jobs, too! Sure they don't really help the business world, but does that even matter? We have enough of that to live, and there are kids that wanna run their own business, be a banker or be a lawyer. But that's NOT me!!
Not to mention it should only have to be 4 or 5 hours at the most, with homework like every other day from each class. That way you can actually go and be a human being.
I'm sorry you hate school... I didn't care for it either when I went. I homeschool all 4 children because school was making my oldest son very unhappy. He and another boy were bored out of their minds while waiting for the other kids to finish, the teacher didn't notice when two boys were drawing the 13 ways another kid was going to die on the table covering for their parochial school benefit dinner, and another teacher was sleeping in the classroom! High School sucks for many reasons. Most kids are all fakes and if your nice you get taken over. In my school nobody gives a damn for you unless your rich and personalities don't exist. I met real people during this summer and going back to this shit school is a pain in the asshole. You won't remember the building, the food, the teachers, or anybody really not even most of the material prob, but you may remember those who were themselves and not fucking posers.

I like learning new things, but I wish I had a say in what I was learning.
I wish I didn't have to take history. I don't entirely hate this class, but I never found it interesting. I actually do pretty well in school, despite not liking it that much.
I am, though, a little disappointed in a science project we did once. We were going to make a bridge, but we were only allowed to use balsa wood and glue. That saddened me. To make it worse, we also had to make an EXACT blueprint of it. Another 3+ hrs of work. On top of that our teacher had the effrontery to make us write a JOURNAL of our daily progress... UGHHHHH...And the effrontery to make us write a summary of our project. A part of the summary was answering what kind of bridge we made. What a frikkin stupid question, we could only make a truss bridge you gargantuan jack@$$!
Language Arts: the subject that makes you feel bad for not reading a book. So what if you're not reading a book, I'm reading all of these comments. In my opinion, that counts. Just because it's not written on pages makes it bad, all of a sudden. And I hate those question that ask you to use text evidence to support your answer, when there is virtually nothing in the text to support your answer. The question they ask on tests are really stupid.
I think that it is important to learn to read, write with proper grammar, and be able to add, subtract, divide, and multiply, which we learn in grades K-4. So all that other bull$hit school funnels into our minds needs to go!!!
One must do his/her own dreams...visions, not what some 'teacher' says...unless you want to work for someone all ur life, be ur own person, business, inventor, entertainer. Follow YOUR imaginations you had as a child...remember them as they came age 3-6 or so...what did you do naturally? = Your calling!!!

I am in Middle School, and it's TORTURE! Last year, I had to show everything I did in math besides use tally marks to show that 8+42=50. I agree with everything here. I used to have to say when asked why I hate school, but not anymore. I am (sorry for not being modest) probably the smartest kid at my school, yet I have never skipped a grade. Don't you think someone who is practically Wikipedia with limbs, who knows the entire periodic table, able to say it all in under a minute, and who knows all 196 countries of the world, should be able to skip at least ONE grade? I actually made pictures with various characters on a graphic calculator of me flooding, dropping a missile on, and doing more to school. If you ask anyone who doesn't hate me (about 7 or 8 people in my grade), and they will probably say I would be able to skip a grade. Why is the public education system so unable to actually EDUCATE? There are problems with bullies, to much writing (my hand is currently in therapy to get out of suicide), and some schools force people to be charitable, against their wills. And on top of that, my school might very well be infested with hornets. REEEAAL safe public education system. Where in the real world are we only allowed to socialize with people a few years older or younger than us, and only at lunch and break. Sorry for this being so long, but something's gotta change, or the world will be DOOMED.

I think the problem about school is that it's shoved down our throats. It's like we can never get away from it.
We go to school for like 6 1/2 hrs a day. We have plenty of time to learn in 6 1/2 hrs. But nooo... we need to have homework. How dare teachers. They have no idea what our home lives are like (fortunately mine is pretty stable). So you may be too busy to take 2 1/2 hrs of your time to do homework.
After school isn't the only time we're given homework. We get this bull on the weekends too! Weekends are two days of the week set aside to get away from school. But teachers seem to think that this is 48 more hours to do your homework. That infuriates me.
And why do you need to read over the summer. Does reading a book really make you a better person. I've read several books before, but I'm still the same obnoxious, perverted kid I was before reading the books. It's pretty humorous how teachers think that you can forget how to read over the summer.
The idea of homework is hypocritical. Teachers absolutely hate it when you waste their time in school, which for my class rarely happens. But they feel the need to waste OUR time to give us homework. Ironic, isn't it.
It also seems that if you don't get all A's, teachers will brush you away like you're dust. I know this because I am a straight A student, and I'm the only one who seems to get pointed out by teachers.
I just think that having all these tests scare kids into learning. If you get a bad grade it means that you're stupider than everyone else in the class. Kids should be encouraged to learn. They shouldn't have to prove that they've mastered a subject in order to feel worthy. Not everyone can be good at everything.
I also don't think that teachers should use homework to teach us things. That's how I felt in history class. I thought the teacher was a wonderful person, but I didn't like the teaching method. She gave us homework and basically we needed to find the answer somewhere in the textbook, and we discussed the homework the class after.
I believe if we do get homework it should be to practice what we learned in class, and it shouldn't excede 15 minutes. But the way that my history teacher taught, it doesn't make me feel like she needs to know anything about the subject. Making kids do bookwork is NOT teaching. And then just memorizing it over and over is not learning.
And a message to the few of you supporting school, saying that we wouldn't be able to write or read without going to school, we learned that early in life. The basic skills we need are communicating effectively, reading/writing properly, and being able to solve arithmetic problems. We learn this in grades K-4. Anything taught in middle school and above is only going to be necessary for a small percentage of students.
Sorry for the length, but this site has really got me thinking about school and I have a lot to say.
I get up at 6:45 because of my bus, and get home at anywhere from 4:30-5:45 because of my bus.
School is really boring. i go back day after tomorrow, and the only GOOD thing is that means holiday season is coming. what you think is never more important than what the boring crap is going on at the chalk board. i mean, me and my friends used to talk about ways we could destroy the school at lunch. and for the goody-two-shoes who think school is the most important part of your life and that you should think so too. also that you should say "thats not nice" when someone does something mean. well let me tell u something. if you get mugged, you CANNOT say "thats not nice". and it's what? seven hours aday, five days a week and twelve hole, damn years with "do your homework" "bring a book home so you can study" and "that's not nice". school hater here

I really dread school and fucking hate it because, yeah, ya gotta get up early as fuck every day. Then sitting in a really uncomfortable desk that makes your ass sore for an hour X 6, while the fuckin "teachers" shove crap into your head and feed you lies. All their "information" is useless to me. I actually haven't learned much from my school in 3 years because I learned all of this shit either (A) The year before or (B) in my spare time out of curiosity. So, basically I see school as fuckin pointless :/
Oh and also, I usually fall asleep in their classes and fail the class for not participating... Yet, I fucking ace all their pathetic tests... And also having to listen to all the dumb-asses all fuckin day long talk about who fucked who, or some other pointless shit. I don't eat the shitty food there either, so i usually just sleep or draw in the commons :/ yet again... pointless for me to even be there...
School is a freaking waste of time! You have to learn SOO many NON-INTERESTING stuff that WILL BE forgotten ANYWAY! They should only teach us basics like reading and writing in early grades and calcualting and NOTHING ELSE IF WE ARE NOT INTERESTED and that WE COULD PICK what we wanna learn based on what we want to do in our future! i have a great summer, with nothing to do except fun, then the last week i remember, I HAVE A BOOK REPORT AND A 12 PAGE MATH PACKET!!! I got real mad of corse, i start school tomorrow, uuggh, not excited. the only upside of school is that you sometimes see friends. But only in the halls and gym and lunch, and you cant like, choose who you see...thats all the work of teachers...who porposely put you in classes without your friends because the year before they stalked you to see who you hang with. so yeah. school controls your life and i cant WAIT to graduate. maybe ill be a teacher that understands kida and like, treats them like people with lives, and teachers don't gotta b warents. kay...bye...the end.

School is great, public school sucks because there are too many people in there, and that hampers learning as it should be, all in all its a great place to make friends anyway. School is a gift from past generations to all of us to learn, I would be damned if it wouldn't be for the school to make me a better person and to prevent me from doing shit I would otherwise throw myself headfirst into if I didn't leanr all the nice school topics.

I hate school because:
1) I have to get up 5:00 in the morning.
2) I have to carry a heavy bag which hurts by back.
3) The bus is too crowded and sometimes I get no seat.
4) I have no friends, and no one talks to me. Everyone teases me.
5) The teachers are rude and scary to me.
6) I learn subjects which have totally no use in my life and I will probably forget them by the time I graduate.
7) I have to by heart stuff for the exam and forget it the next day.
8) At last after spending 7 hours in school, teachers give homework and projects to do at home. Then I stay up late completing them............. and wake up the next day :(

Schools were created so people could be educated. I agree that school may be boring at times but just suck it up. Do well in your classes, get good grades and you will be a responsible, educated adult when you finish.

The reason school is required is so you don't end up working at mcdonald's for the rest of your life. The reason courses are required is because you have no idea as to what you really want to do in life and what you're good at. Even if you think you do, you most likely don't. Some people know their entire life what they want to do, and would only benefit from taking say math courses, but the majority of people don't. Have I known my entire life what I've wanted to do? Yep. Did I hate high school with a passion? Yep. Do I still hate general educaitons or "required" courses that won't benefit me in any way shape or form? Yep. Would I have been just the same if I had never taken physical education or history or health education? Yep. But too many people think courses like these are important. So nothing will change. Ever.

1. Skip as much as possible
2. Learn only in 4,8,12 th years (at least in Europe)
3. Try escaping as much as possible with some friends
4. Behave well, don't attract attention (this really helps)
5. Try getting addicted to something (games/ w/e) because time will pass faster :P

1. Be rude/mean. Just let your teachers do that, although you hate them, it will help your grades.

I don't know why school wants to make your life difficult by giving us assignments in which the answers are not even in the textbook, or if there are, they twisted the words to make it tricky or something.most books are like that. At the end of every chapter there are exercises you have to answer and you try to look for the answer in that chapter and you could not find it.Why create a book like that?and teachers would be absent for days without telling students ahead of time,but if you would be absent, minus a lot of points and you're a candidate for drop out.

School, It fucking sucks my ass, its shit alright, and i hang on the internet alot in my life, and a program as of from at least 2005 to now, called "ITrust Deepnines Technologies" has been blocking websites, such a Miniclip, Youtube, Facebook, Myspace, NotDoppler, Nitrome, AGame and a few other fun game webites. I love learning, but school makes it so hard to enjoy it. My school switched to a new type of scheduling that's supposed to be better for learning. Lolno. Classes are fucking 80 minutes long and interchange every day, school starts 15 minutes earlier, I have to be at the bus stop at 6:20, WHAT. THE. HELL. Everything is so regulated nowadays, I feel like I have no freedom as a teenager. I used to be able to handle it, but all the changes this year are seriously bringing back my depression. school sucks; because i put 12 years (kindagarden to high school) plus 4 community and 2 university, so 18 years of schooling to owe financial aid money, no job security, no good relationships, and still living with parents. I could have made money while I was younger and stacked up, but I relied on school to get me this great job. Not really. I wish that I was a drop out now, because same results anyways, no money!!!
I used to be a straight-A student, until I've realized all the precious time that school has made me lose. Lately, I've been having a lot of problems with my college's incredibly rude/stubborn registrar and have only been accepted in my program after numerous "confrontations." I've been through way too much useless stress/anxiety and have now vowed to myself to never let anything get the best of me again, ever. Furthermore, I no longer give a fuck about passing with flying colors.
I do, however, agree that school can teach you some valuable lessons. In my case, it has taught me that I don't need to depend on it for personal growth.

After that school is basically useless unless you need to study math and science.
