Why do I hate school?
It's okay to hate school: There is nothing wrong with you.

This is a support site for students who can't stand being forced to go to school. We are not telling you to drop out, rebel or do anything in particular. What you do is your decision and yours alone, we can just provide support and information for whatever choice you may make. What works for one person won't necessarily work for everyone. The point is: the choice is yours to make. And if, for whatever reason, other people refuse to let you make that choice, you will always find someone here willing to listen to you.
14 Good Reasons why School Sucks & Things I Hate About School:
- School sucks because if you don't like it, most people automatically think there's something serious wrong with you.
- School ruins learning. In school, learning is all about memorizing things, answering questions, and writing loads of crap on topics you don't care about.
- Because you're forced to go there, and if you want to try some other alternative, you need to get parental permission first. School is essentially pointless forced labour without pay.
- It sucks because people expect you to treat school as the most important thing in your life. Nevermind what you'd rather be doing.
- School sucks because once you're done, you'll probably forget 90% of what you "learned" there and burn all your books anyway. All you'll be left with is a diploma stating that you survived 12 years of hell. And very few people (besides your parents) will even want to look at it.
- Because talking to your friends is a crime at school.
- It sucks because even if you're bored out of your mind, you'll still get all the blame for not participating in class.
- School suppresses independent thought - if you disagree with the teacher, you're in trouble. If you dare to think of a new way to do something, it's automatically wrong.
- School sucks because if you do what they say and do all your work, you don't get time off - they'll just expect even more from you in future. And someone who cheats on their work and tests can just as easily do better than you.
- School sucks because life is short, and you'll never get that time back.
- School makes everyone around you panic over the smallest little things that none of them (or anyone else) will care about a few years down the line.
- Even when you go home, school invades your life by giving you homework as well.
- It sucks because even though school has all these problems, if you mention any of them, you'll be the one they blame, no matter how right you may actually be.
- School sucks because every now and then it does something useful for someone, and then everyone goes all "Look! That's proof that school is good for you!"... It's like getting free ice cream in hell - it just doesn't quite make up for all the other stuff.

SChool makes u a slave...Do this, Do that! Constant corrections, harassment, pressures, bullies. Many kids are burned out after HS as I was. Some have counseling after as they cant work or dont want to. I forgot my dreams of acting and thank God met an actress who inspired me to get on it. Education is old and obsolete.

Do you even know how extremely RIGHT you are?! I am a 5th grader, and every 2 day weekend, we get at least 6 or 7 homework. Having a weekend and not having it is just the same. Thanks for telling! :D I HATE SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

god damn! i'm in like the hardest middle school and i got homework in every one of my periods the first day! not "COLOR IN A PICTURE" but like "x=8y/8 equals the square root of four......" some stupid equation like that.
for me, I have stacks of fking homework EVERY FUCKING DAY. I'm a Senior in High School and at this point, I and all the other seniors should take a break. My parents took everything fun away from me (my cell phone, laptop, video games, and, Hell, my fucking headphones!!!!!) and refused to give anything back until i improve my grades by doing hw and passing test. except for weekends, they said that im allowed to have them only for weekends, if i finished all my hw and i have passing grade. Dipshit. what they dont realize is that EVEN ON WEEKENDS I STILL HAVE HOMEWORK, AND THESE AMOUNT OF MUTHAFUCKING HW ARE 2X MORE THAN TYPICAL WEEKDAY HW. my HS homecoming dance is coming up and my parents wont let me go because of stupid grades and hw. (i just got a progress report saying i have D's and F's because I procrastinated too much.) the Worst part is my parents just never understand my everyday pain. whenever i tell'em how much i hate school, they just get mad and keep saying that there's something wrong with me and that "School is good for you!" typical bullshit. (btw i live in a high-tech society where everyone is brainwashed)

Now Im currently in college but man... I hate school but it not as bad once you get to college but the pressure is still there. Time is wasted on things that are irrelevant, and who said school makes u smart.. um no, how many students are ignorant on our politics and home economics n shit, aren't those things far more important than shit that has happened in the past??? And in school they claim that if u memorize a bunch of shet that ur a smartass... um no... And in school if you think of something out of the box, and don't agree with the teacher, ur wrong and its "disrespect". I respect my authority figures but when something is wrong, its wrong hence being logically and intellectually fuckin correct bu nooo.. becus Im a student therefore the shit I come up with, comes out my ass, and I can't use my fuckin sense.
And when you start school, u have no time for urself. Even when u finish school u have HOMEWORK.
I wish there was a way to meet in the middle. I see why some classes are required, but after a while, those classes become pointless. We need school to learn basics. Mostly we need it to learn about English and math. The thing is, I'm never going to use anything science related in my career or daily life. My common sense will be enough to get me through. I understand that we don't want to repeat our country's mistakes, which is why we somewhat need to learn about our history, but I don't see the point in memorizing every tedious detail. I haven't retained most of what I learned.
I wish we could choose most of our classes and that we had fewer classes per day. While I would not like to finish school sooner and be forced into the work field, school shouldn't have to start so soon. Is it really necessary to start school when you're (about) five? I hate that teachers have all of the power, even when they're wrong. I've had teachers that had absolutely no respect for anyone, yet they expected respect from us. The whole thing is just unfair.

I hate it for plenty of reasons, for one, how can I learn ANYTHING in the horrid atmosphere? Secondly, no alternatives AT ALL (for me anyway, since I live in Serbia), or if there are, my parents WON'T let me try it. They think it's my responsibility? Yes, it's my responsibility to be tortured every day of my freaking life. School is hell, it's worse than anything I'd have to face with life.

OMFG My teachers give me homework and don't explain it good :(. I really wish i went to a good school. Here is my philosophy, i get really good grades, but you know why, because i stressed over it! i haven't been happy since Elementary which they shouldn't be bitching about everything cuz they have it easy. I really want to be successful, but teachers don't do a good job with teaching. I wish they could be teach better and not give us hard homework unless they really know we have the stuff down. Same with tests.

there are many things i hate about school the fact as a labourious student who studies 5 hours daily without stopping and getting grades which don't satisfy me , i'm always quiet at classes and sometimes raise my hand to answer when i answer wrong all the students laugh which makes me to think, well my class all of them are scientists ...lucky me ...when i get not a bad mark ..the teacher gives me a look which is terrifying ...i didn't do something wrong ....the teachers in my school gives us a lot of homeworks and exams only in one day ( exams, pop quizez, homeworks, imaginary projects ........etc) sometimes i begin to think the teachers are no way human beings , i can't understand that they always say to us ''we were like you ( students) so we know how you feel and the pressure we impose on you'' , and i always reply ''well act like that'' , and when they say that open your hearts to us .... i can't open my heart to a person who won't listen to me or to put the reson of the problem on me .... my parents always tell me that i should be patient not to worry, everything is normal , it is totally a normal situation , we all have been in this process and look to us ...we are sucessfull , we have family and that how the life goes on, ''c'est la vie'' , but i don't feel so... i take more than 15 project in the 9th grade which is a lot more than i could bare......... all i need now is how to get over this depression and to have a positive outlook to the life.

Dude, your so right! i quit in seventh too, i used to have heart attacks about how OMG IM GONNA HAVE A LATE ASSIGNMENT, but now i kinda just shrug it off, because to me it doesn't matter anymore. it's only school i'll get over it. I have problems though. I don't know why, but i'm just too sensitive, like in baseball (when i used to play it) I cried whenever i struck out. It was the pressure... It hurt so much. had a funny experience though. i got ball 1, ball 2, ball 3, ball 2, ball 2... until i struck out... like wtf can't he count? that got me going. but yeah, just let go. relax. don't worry about it. care, but when the pressure is about to break you go limp. that's my suggestion.
Many of you seem to have some flawed ideas. Some of you guys sound like you're emotion-driven, and those of you who look at this page and start fastidiously adhering to the ideas expressed herein- are you really any different from those on "the other side" who do the same thing with their petty little "American History," "Basic Trigonometry," "Algebra II," and "Washington Secondary School Guidelines and Regulations" type of trash? You should not find you can relate to something emotionally and then stick to it like it's only full of flawless and holy truths. Come on, meaningless words are trash... like this, "OMG I AGRE II WANT SKOL TO GO AWAY TO LETS BOMB AND KIL EVERYONE." "OH I SOO AGREE I H8 SCHOOL SOO MUCH!"- Don't just jump on the bandwagon because you can relate. Be critical thinkers and think for yourselves. Don't just suck everything in- be more like a filter.
If we want anything to get done, we also have to get realistic. We have to get realistic, get organised, and be in the right, most importantly. Is it right to kill someone just because you do not like them? I also wish the homophobia-driven slang would stop. It is not right and it does nothing to improve your (our) image, even.
Now, I want to emphasise, again, that it is important that we are all able to think for ourselves and process everything not originated from your own mind with caution, filtering it through your own mind, before accepting it and agreeing. We must share ideas, be a network of consciousness. At the same time, there might be, to put it simply, stupid people among or ranks, or, at worst, people who oppose us and want to ruin us by spreading garbage ideas around... which is why I emphasise the need for us to be true critical thinkers. This is crucial for our cause.
Our cause. Do we have a cause? At present, no. We need to organise. If we want to get anything done, we need to make a cause. We need to organise so that we have structure. Face it- you can't work individually or in tiny 10-person groups. We need a true, massive, organisation. There are a number of reasons. Ease of communication. A standard way of doing things. A centralised type of "leadership" (we need to be very careful on that- I, for one, am wary of any type of authority...)... A way of being connected.
Let's face it- do you think you all (us all) are unique, different, in that we hate school and want to do something about it? NO. I would place my money on it that there have been countless others in the past with similar sentiments. Has anything been done? Have these past people, our figurative "ancestors," done anything, really? We need to make ourselves different. Sitting here and talking about it will do nothing. Petitioning, really. That will do nothing. Don't you realise the true power system in the world today? That's another issue, entirely, though... Anyway, the fact remains that we have to do things differently from our dissenting predecessors. We cannot sit back, glued to our chairs, watching Jersey Shore. We need to DO SOMETHING.
The problem is, kids are probably the lowest in power on the scale, because until your like 30, your regarded as immature. let's be honest, who has the power? Not us. The older ones, the "Wiser" ones do. I also doubt many other are actually intelligent enough to think critically. I feel that my brain is worn, I can't focus anymore, i can't remember something from 5 minutes ago unless it is something i am interested in, and my brain burns everyday. It's worn on me, and even though i can't take it anymore, i'm too much of a pansy to kill myself, too much of a pansy to fight back. So I'll just sit there and take it. there is just too many holes in ANY plans to take reform schools, because "adults" don't want any change. It reminds me of the metric system in america. and look what they're doing, they teach it to the children to get rid of the people thinking its too complicated (Even though it's not) and stuff like that. So unless YOU HAVE AN IDEA TO GAIN POWER, THERE IS NO WAY FOR THIS TO WORK!
Also sorry if i got off topic with me saying my mind was wearing down, but it shows it. my brain can't focus for too long, and it all started in 6th-7th grade, when I tried to fight against all by myself. I doesn't work, all that happens is cops call you a dumbass for not wanting to go to school.of course, i could be different united, but not without power, just remember that.

Thank you for your attentive reply. I hear you out and understand you. I suppose this is a firsthand-experienced effect of school... I'm somewhat fascinated by your feeling that your brain is "worn." This only goes further, in my mind, to show that school has very bad effects on some people... It sucks; I'm sorry about that...
I believe everyone should know that suicide is a bad option... You may not notice it every day, but there are people with good hearts in this world who would mourn your death, even if you have no friends and family to do that for, hypothetically...
I understand your hopeless feelings but I want to add my input in about your sentiments that we are powerless. THIS IS EXACTLY WHERE THEY WANT US- feeling hopeless, powerless, like we cannot do anything. Try to see that. That is just where the "authorities" want us.
This problem goes a lot further than the education system. This problem, when thoroughly investigated, leads us into a whole 'nother world involving corruption, lies, lack of government transparency, money, the federal reserve, the big banks, theoretical problems intertwined with these problems (conspiracy theories), etc. etc.
We need to fight all of this type of wrong in our world by starting where we can... or, at least, where we can, within reason. (We COULD start fighting by hitting higher up on the scale, but that would not be realistic, for example.)
We have power. Our power is not written on paper. It's not granted to us by some constitution or bill of rights. Our power is in our minds- we're smart. We have illegal power... (That was a partial joke.) We can come up with solutions, ideas, tactics, tricks. We're humans, aren't we? We are capable of practically anything. Our power increases as we increase in numbers too.
Come on... we're underground for now...
I therefore am going to be monitoring this page for any signs of agreement from fellow comrades in this movement, and I hope others who agree and side with me will do the same, because as we build up size, organisation, focus, and communication, among each other, continuing to discuss, contribute, recruit, etc., we will be able to go from there... and we will be unstoppable, if we gain enough power... Do not let me be alone in wanting true action.

School quashes that out of us. We learn a standardised, crap set of information. Not only that, but this information is brainwashing- it's polluted knowledge. It's mixed in with indoctrinating diseducation. We are not being EDUCATED: we are being DISEDUCATED. (That is my neologism for a large part of our situation...) I.e., we're not just "learning," we're getting brainwashed as well.. brainwashed to fit in with the messed up world... We're being made complacent... placid... content... unquestioning, gullible, and the list goes on and on.
But do you see how diverse our interests are? If only given the bare-bones essentials of non-polluted education: basic maths, science, social studies, reading... and left to our own devices- innovation would flourish... People would be tonnes happier. Great potential lies in LETTING KIDS LEARN WHATEVER THEY WANT TO LEARN. The world wouldn't fall apart!! WE ARE NOT STUPID.

I hate school. Every day I go, I feel like I'm just a big goddamn tool to society. I mean, think about it. Doesn't it just suck knowing no one will give a shit about you if you die? (except for your family members&friends, but out of the 7 billion people on Earth...). That's why I want to make the most of my life having fun and doing good things for society. Not being some retarded engineer designing turbines or some shit (like my science teacher pushed on us today). Fuck school, fuck the system.

School fucking sucks. Primary school was okay and I think primary up until year 8 is important but from year 9 onwards you are learning stuff you are never going to use. School is like a concentration camp. Think about it! We are rounded up and put into confined spaces and tortured for hours on end then we are let out for a short break then rounded up and put back into confined spaces and tortured some more. And school implies that if you work really hard you are free in life to make your own choices. Sound familiar? "Arbeit macht frei" (work makes one free)?. Childhood isn't fair.
My parents always say to me enjoy your childhood while you still can. Well how the fuck can I enjoy my childhood when it is completely wasted on school. I'm always depressed about school and my parents are always asking why am I so depressed and I say well I would be happy if I wasn't going to school and that I was able to live my life to the fullest. But of course my parents don't except the fact that school is ruining my life. Yes I agree school may provide opportunities in life but if you don't enjoy doing so then why do it at all?. Even when we finish school we have to work to stay alive. What is the point in life if you don't enjoy 90% of it. What is the point in a childhood if it's completely wasted on something you don't give a fuck about. I thought the holocaust ended in 1945 but I guess it had only just begun. I think I need school about as much as the pope needs condoms.

Wake up after 4 hours of nightmares of returning to school;
Barely choke down breakfast, then run out the door to catch the bus.
On the bus, try hard to avoid the idiots who do retarded things like smoking smarties.
Trudge to the gym to wait for the bell to ring, then wait 10 minutes until everyone else is out.
Go to the only good period, where we do fun things like draw maps (its social studies), but try not to fall asleep in the lectures.
Struggle through an hour of hard math, with me only learning the subject from Google®.
Go to lunch and actually eat real food.
Learn a language I actually wanted to learn, Japanese.
Go to gym and run 2 miles, and try really hard not to run home.
Go to science and hope its a video or project day; if not, then pray to not die of boredom.
Hear a phone ring; I bow my head and pray that its my parents picking me up early.
Go to the last period, and ignore the teacher yelling at the retards who decided to tick him off.
Ride the bus home, and listen to the people who blame me for everything.
Do the homework, or at least attempt to.
Eat whatever I make for dinner, ant get on the internet for fun.
Take a hot shower to forget the whole.
And then the cycle repeats.
That is why school must be stopped, or at least reformed. And I didn't even include the mass amount of bullying and fights. There has been bloodshed because of school fights. There is also the popular people (AKA the Jerkfaces) who ridicule me for trivial things such as me not having an Xbox or getting them a birthday presant. The present complainers actually have the nerve to demand presents from me even while my family owes 30,000 dollars in debt. I do hope that we can win one day. Also, to the people who say that we need school are the ones who are out of school or go to a special private school. And I also agree that the schools should teach us what we want to learn. Ahh.Where can i fucking start.Its sunday at 9:33.Im extremely depressed on sunday nights.For one reason.SCHOOOLL!AHH!Well anyway,ive been in school since i was 5,(Im currently 11).Im in 5th grade.Its not because my teacher,(My gym teachers though are fucking faggots,and my music teacher is a bitch). My main teacher is really okay.Not a mean guy.Anyway the thing i hate is,Im woken up by my dad at like 7:50 in the morning.,and then i have to quickly get up to use the bathroom and brush my teeth.Then i rush through my clothes,depressed.I put on my backpack,drive to the bustop and wait for the stupid bus.The bus driver is a stupid fat ugly bitch.I get on with my brother,and talk and then get off at 8:30.Then 6 fucking hours later,its finnaly over.But through that i have an agenda,with work on it(Weird as fuck.And my parent has to sign it every fucking day except for friday or a break).Anyway school is horrible.
